'Better Work-Life Balance' Women Cops In Maharashtra To Have 8 Hours Duty

Working Hour reduces from 12 hours to 8 hours a day!

Women Cops in Maharashtra would work for eight hours a day rather than working for 12 long hours.

On Thursday, an order was issued and as per the statement given by state Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Pandey said, "Women police personnel across Maharashtra would now have duty for eight hours instead of 12 hours."

As per the information, a senior official mentioned that the step has been taken to provide better work-life balance to women officials. Also, this system was enforced in Nagpur city, Amravati, and Pune.

According to the statement given by Police, it said that the women officers had brought it to the notice of DGP that the duty hours were beyond 12 hours and many times, they were held up in routine work for more than 12 hours at the police stations.

The DGP had recently issued instructions to the chiefs of city and district police to not give night patrolling duty or other such stressful work to the lower rank officers a day before their weekly holiday. As per the statement given by DGP Pandey, he said that his office has come to know that police officers and constables are given night patrolling or 24-hour duty a day before their weekly off.

According to the tweet given by NCP leader and Baramati MP, Supriya Sule tweeted, “The Maharashtra government has decided to reduce the working hours of women police officers from 12 hrs. to 8 hrs. a day. This is a really good initiative by the state government as this will help to have better coordination between family and the duties of women officers”.

In case of emergency or during festivals, the duty hours of women personnel may be boosted, but only with the permission of respective district Superintendents of Police or Deputy Commissioners of Police.
