Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi will hold a meeting on March 26, the party will discuss the political situation. 

 

As per the information, the party meeting will be held at party headquarters. All India Congress Committee General Secretaries and in-charges will be present at the meeting which will be chaired by General Secretary (organization) KC Venugopal.

 

On Tuesday afternoon, the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi met G23 leaders Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari, and Vivek Tankha at her residence in New Delhi as part of her efforts to resolve the deepening rift within the party after the poll rout of Congress in five states in the recently concluded Assembly elections. 

 

This comes amid the Congress chief is holding consultations with party leaders following the poll debacle in five states that went to assembly elections recently.

 

As per the information, the G-23 leaders are pressing for organizational changes, the Congress chief is learned to have said that the requisite measures will be taken after the August-September elections for party president. 

 

General Secretary (organization) KC Venugopal will chair the meeting at party headquarters in the national capital, reports ANI. According to sources, Sonia Gandhi, who will also be present at the meeting, will review the progress of the membership drive so far as well as re-starting nationwide agitations. 

 

The party has faced a downfall in the latest assembly elections. The elections were conducted in five states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, and Manipur. Where congress didn't come in power in any of these five poll-bound states. The assembly election results were declared on March 10.
