Dozens of Covishield found frozen in Assam.

Around one thousand vaccines were found frozen in a health care of Assam.

The Assam Department of Health has decided to send 100 bottles of Covishield containing 1,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the laboratory after the bulk was found frozen at the Silchar Medical College in Cachar district. A notice has been sent to the medical college about allegations of storing improper injections made by the Serum Institute of India, an official said.

The Department of Health has not yet said that the bulk of the vaccine should be discarded as it will wait for a laboratory report to assess its potential effectiveness. The incident happened on Saturday, the first day of a vaccination campaign in India. According to the guidelines of the Pune-based Serum Institute, the vaccine needs to be stored at a temperature of between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. According to Assam's cold system, these vaccines are transported and stored in frozen refrigerators as defined by the global vaccination system for transporting and storing any vaccine.

These refrigerators, thanks to the extra layer of dry ice, continue to maintain the required temperature even when there is no electricity for a long time. "An investigation has been launched into the whereabouts of the outbreak. There is a possibility that the vaccine will freeze while it is being taken to hospital or is being kept at the hospital," said a senior health official.
