Encounter breaks out in J&K

An encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out in Kulgam

An encounter between terrorists and the armed forces broke out in the Hadigram area in Kulgum on Wednesday morning. Two of the local terrorists surrendered during the operation as per the officials. The police said, “During the encounter, two local terrorists surrendered on the appeal of their parents and police. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition recovered”.

The encounter started just as the joint team of police and security forces received intel about the presence of terrorists in that area. Acting on the information the security services raided the area and the terrorists opened fire. The police and Security forces soon retaliated.

Police and the paramilitary troops seized the village of Hadigram where they had pointed out information of two militants hiding. The security forces even installed lights to further tighten the seize and to make the militants' escape impossible.

One of the police officials said that a surrendering terrorist is better than an encounter as it sends off a message to the youngsters with guns as they can come back and join the mainstream.

The security forces also found an improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Kutta Mod area of Pattan on the Srinagar Baramulla national highway. The Baramulla police and army’s 29RR and the bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene and the explosive was defused.
