Farmers Meet To Discuss Wrestler’s Issues

A number of seniors will take part in the Meeting...

On Thursday, 01 June 2023, Top Wrestlers continued to protest against former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan despite several calls from the government to trust the police investigation.

Farmer Union will hold a 'maha panchayat' to discuss the issues wrestlers are facing.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has said that a grand meeting of all khaps will be held in UP's Muzaffarnagar to discuss the wrestlers' protest.

They have leveled sexual harassment charges against embattled WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

BKU leader Naresh Tikait says that several representatives of different khaps and their heads from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab Rajasthan, and Delhi will be participating in the mahapanchayat.

Mr. Tikait played a major role in persuading some of India's best wrestlers to not immerse their medals in the river.

On Tuesday, Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat went to Haridwar and threatened to immerse all their medals in the holy river Ganga due to the lack of action against the WFI chief.

They were stopped from doing so after being convinced by the farmer leaders and given a five-day deadline to the cops.
