Five Hospitalized in Gurugram Cafe Due to Mouth Freshener Incident

Five Sent to Hospital Following Mouth Freshener Mishap

On March 2 in Gurugram, five individuals experienced vomiting blood and a burning sensation in their mouths after consuming mouth freshener following a meal at a cafe in New Delhi.

Ankit Kumar, along with his wife and friends, was at Laforestta Cafe in Gurugram's Sector 90. In a video recorded by Mr. Kumar inside the restaurant, his five companions, including his wife, were witnessed screaming and crying in agony. One of the men vomited on the restaurant floor, while a woman attempted to alleviate the discomfort by applying ice to her mouth, expressing, "It's burning."

Mr. Kumar expressed concern, stating, "We don't know what they have mixed in the mouth freshener. Everyone here is vomiting. They have cuts on their tongues. Their mouths are burning. Don't know what type of acid they have given us." He then urged people in the cafe to call the police.

In his police complaint, Mr. Kumar stated, "I showed the packet of the mouth freshener to a doctor, who said it was dry ice. According to the doctor, it is an acid which can lead to death."

According to reports, the victims initially experienced a burning sensation in their mouths and subsequently began vomiting. Shortly after, they started vomiting blood. Despite rinsing their mouths with water, the discomfort persisted.

The five individuals have been hospitalized, with two of them reported to be in critical condition.

Based on the complaints from the victims, the police have filed a case against the owner of the restaurant.
