IMD Issues Severe Cold Alert For Next 2-3 Days

Delhi Witnesses dense fog!


The National capital is witnessing a bone-chilling cold. The capital city is reeling with incessant fog and severe cold conditions in the city. On Monday morning, Delhi woke up with a blanket of dense fog in the city.

 

The India meteorological department (IMD) predicts a severe cold alert. The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 8 degrees in the morning. It is also expected to touch 16 degrees Celsius According to India meteorological department, the next three days starting from January 18 will be dense to Moderately foggy with the possibility of light rain on January 19 and 21.

 

IMD predicted due to severe fog conditions in the city, the city witnessed a dip in visibility resulting in seven Delhi-bound trains running late. Further, it also predicted severe cold day conditions in the isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan for the next two days.

 

With the change in weather conditions, the National capital has also witnessed a change in the pollution levels. The city witnessed a shift from the very poor category to the Poor category. According to the system of air quality and weather forecasting research (SAFAR), it said, Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) at 262 on Monday.

 

An AQI between 0-50 is good, 51-100 is satisfactory,101-200 is moderate,201-300 is poor,301-400is very poor,401-500 is severe.

 

The capital city is at the top when it comes to incessant pollution. The city is witnessing a change in its AQI level after fog Conditions.
