Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee, who shares daily health - related information and tips on her Instagram profile, shared her insights on consuming honey and when to avoid it. She spoke about the health benefits of honey and when not to consume it in a short video.

"A tablespoon of honey provides about 60 calories. If you consume it occasionally, you will not gain weight. But if you consume large amounts of honey in one day, you can gain weight. It will also slow your weight loss and increase blood sugar. It can prevent you from reaching your goal weight," Anjali wrote for her caption.

She further pointed out that honey can be consumed daily only if the person leads a healthy lifestyle, exercises regularly, is not overweight or diabetic. If any of the conditions do not apply to the person, they should avoid consuming honey as it may interfere with weight loss and not allow them to reach their weight goal.

Honey rich in health promoting botanicals, is high in antioxidants. It is also better for the body's blood sugar than consuming regular sugar. However, it is recommended by Nutritionist for obese and pre - diabetic people to avoid honey as well, as it can adversely affect the body.

Despite the health benefits that may be associated with honey, it's high in sugar - which can be detrimental to your health. Therefore, the best way to take advantage of the potential benefits linked to honey is to opt for a high-quality brand and use it to replace unhealthy sweeteners, such as refined sugar.

Honey has a lower glycemic index than sugar, which means it won't spike your blood sugar levels the way sugar will. Honey also has a sweeter taste than sugar and may help you use less sweetener on foods. This makes honey a better option than sugar. Swapping honey for pure sugar is an effective way to keep blood sugar levels steady.
