Potato cold storage roof collapsed in Sambhal

Eight people were killed and 11 rescued in the incident


On 16 March 2023, a potato cold storage roof collapsed in the Chandausi area of Sambhal, in Uttar Pradesh, around 11:30 a.m., resulting in the deaths of eight people so far. 

 

The national disaster response force (NDRF) and state disaster response force (SDRF) are working on a rescue operation and have rescued 11 people; they are still searching for other people who are stuck in the basement of the building.

 

Following the incident, the district magistrate of Sambhal, Manish Bansal, informed us that they were using sniffer dogs to better search for the people who were missing or stuck in the debris and increasing the force to rescue them.

 

The superintendent of police of Sambhal, Chakresh Mishra, registered a complaint under Section 304 against the owners of the storage, identified as Ankur Agarwal and Rohit Agarwal, and two other people.
