Rain Lashes Delhi- NCR, IMD Predicts More Rainfall

Air Quality index slips Very Poor!


On Saturday the National capital Delhi and the National capital region (NCR) woke up with a cloudy sky and rainfall. The city reported a minimum temperature of 10.0 degrees Celsius.

 

The Indian meteorological department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall today (January 22).  According to the statement given by an Indian meteorological department, it said, "widespread rainfall is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan from January 21 to January 23 due to western disturbance."

 

Due to the heavy rainfall in the city, few parts of the city witnessed crowding like traffic jams and waterlogging issues in the capital city and the Gurgaon Haryana region.

 

An 'orange' alert for rain and thundershowers accompanied by lightning and hail has also been issued for 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh. The orange alert is issued for Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Datia, Ashok Nagar, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Vidisha, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Damoh, and Sagar districts.

 

Delhi's air quality remained in the 'very poor category, with overall AQI at 342 as per System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR)-India on Saturday.

 

According to Government data, An AQI between zero to 50 is good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 is moderate,201-300 is poor 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is severe.

 

Meanwhile, the Air Quality index of the capital city remains very fluctuating, the pollution level with incessant cold weather conditions also lead to a blurry and foggy environment.

 

The capital city also witnessed a cloudy sky. Also, the NCR region witnesses a change in the AQI level of their respective states.
