On Tuesday, the Karnataka government announced restrictions on the new year celebration in wake of the prevailing Covid-19 scenario in the state.


According to the statement given by Basavaraj Bommai at Suvarna, Vidhana Soudha said, the decision has been taken at a high-level meeting with authorities and Covid expert committee members who attended the meeting through video conferencing.


The Covid-19 led new variant is creating concern for getting infected. According to the information, "The usual large gatherings at M.G Road, Brigade Road and surrounding areas in Bangalore has been banned this time. Large gatherings are also banned at any place across the state for the new year celebration further said, as for clubs, pubs are concerned, DJ music, special events are not allowed. The entry has been restricted to 50 percent capacity. Large-scale parties are also not allowed anywhere in the state.

 

The Minister said this applies to the apartment premises also. The resident welfare association must see to it that there are no large gatherings and parties on their premises. The entry is only permitted for the vaccinated ones, inoculated with both doses of Covid vaccination.


These rules will apply from December 30 till January 2, 2022. Several other states are implementing their respective guidelines to curb the mass gathering in the state. The decisions taking place to secure people from getting infected with the Covid-19 led to the New Variant Omicron.
