The word "Secular, Socialist" is missing from the Constitution's Preamble

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury...

On the first day of the new Parliament building, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the new copies of the Constitution that were distributed to MPs did not have the phrases "secular" and "socialist" in the Preamble.

The phrases secular and socialist were not found in the preamble of the Constitution that we carried today as we entered the new Parliament building. It is a worrying situation if these two phrases are absent from the Constitution, according to the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, who spoke to news agency ANI.

He also said that the government changed things "very cleverly" and with "problematic" objectives.

Chowdhury claimed that despite his best efforts, he was unable to bring up the matter before Parliament.

The Congressman was seen in Parliament earlier on Tuesday reading the Constitution's Preamble. It should be noted that he did pronounce the terms "socialist" and "secular" while reading the Preamble.

Sonia Gandhi, chair of the Congress Parliamentary Party, added, "In the preamble it (the words ‘socialist secular') were not there."

On Tuesday, the first day of the new Parliament building, members of Parliament were presented with a copy of the Indian Constitution as well as publications pertinent to the body, a commemorative coin, and a stamp. These gifts were placed in a gift bag for the MPs.
