A Dalit woman and her minor sister were allegedly gang raped by three men in Ayodhya’s village under the jurisdiction limits of Bikarpur police station of Ayodhya district. The two sisters hailed from Lucknow and were held captive by the accused men. The Bikarpur police informed that one of the sisters was a minor and the two sisters were immediately taken for a medical examination.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon as the sisters were reportedly returning from Sherpurpura market, which is near their village. The three accused men abducted the girls and held them captive. The men later dragged the girls to sugarcane fields where they then allegedly outraged their modesty and gang raped them. The men threatened the girls of severe consequences, if they were to inform the police and fled the fields immediately after rape.

Pramod Kumar Yadav the circle officer at Bikarpur said that an extensive search operation was carried out immediately after they fled, to track the trio’s track and to arrest them.

The girls informed their family about the horrific incident on Tuesday after which an official written application was submitted to the police station.

The three accused, out of which two are identified as Bhai Lal Yadav and Tribhuvan Ydav, are booked under relevant sections of sexual abuse of the IPC sections 376-D (gang rape) 323 (involuntarily causing hurt) 504 (insulting) and 506 (criminal intimidation) the police informed.
