The veteran actor Leelavathi passed away today at a hospital in Nelamangala at the age of 85. She had been battling a prolonged illness. Notably, Leelavathi's son, Vinod Raj, is also an actor.

Leelavathi began her film journey with the movie "Nagakannike," playing the role of Sakhi. Over the years, she contributed to over 600 films in various South Indian languages. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited her residence to inquire about her health, and in November, actors Arjun Sarja, Shivarajkumar, Abishek, and Darshan also paid their respects. Tributes for the actress are pouring in on social media from both the Sandalwood fraternity and her fans.

Leelavathi's illustrious career featured memorable films like "Nanda Deepa," "Kulavadhu," "Veerakesari," "Sipayi Ramu," "Gejje Pooje," "Auto Raja," and "Premaloka." Her final appearance on screen was in the 2009 film "Yaaradhu," where she starred alongside her son, Vinod Raj.

An empathetic actress, who previously built a primary healthcare center in Solladevanahalli, Nelmangala Taluk, is currently working on establishing a veterinary hospital.

In June, she extended her support to the construction of a veterinary hospital. During the foundation laying ceremony, Leelavathi expressed, "I wanted to make a positive impact for animals, hence, I decided to build a hospital dedicated to their well-being."

Her remains will be available for public viewing at Ambedkar Stadium in Nelamangala.
