Mumbai: On Sunday, June 5, 2023, Veteran actor Sulochana Latkar died due to prolonged illness at a hospital, her grandson-in-law Parag Ajgavkar confirmed the news. She was 94 years old.
Sulochana Latkar is a famous actor in Marathi and Hindi cinema.
She started her career in acting in the 1940s and got featured in overall 250 films.
On May 8, the actor was admitted to Shushrusha Hospital in Dadar.
"She passed away at 6.30 in the evening at the hospital.
She suffered from a respiratory tract infection for which she was admitted on May 8," Parag told news agency PTI.
She has worked in the films like "Sasurvas", "Vahinichya Bangdya", and "Dhakti Jau" in Marathi and "Aaye Din Bahar Ke", "Gora Aur Kala", "Devar", "Talaash", and "Azaad", in Hindi.
In the Bollywood industry, the actor was famous for on-screen mother to superstars of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s including Sunil Dutt, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and many more in the series.
She worked in superhit films named "Heera", "Reshma Aur Shera", "Jaani Dushman", "Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai", "Jhonny Mera Naam", "Kati Patang", Mere Jeevan Saathi", "Prem Nagar", and "Bhola Bhala".
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said the film industry had lost an artist who exuded strength and innocence in her roles.
She portrayed various characters in Hindi and Marathi cinema in a career of more than six decades, Pawar added.
