11 Held for Waving Saffron Flag in UP Mosque

Authorities Take Action as Incident Sparks Concern in Tajganj Area


Police arrested eleven people for waving a saffron flag in a mosque in Billochpura, Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

 

On Tuesday, the arrests took place following a complaint filed by Zahiruddin, the mosque's caretaker, on Monday at Tajganj police station, as informed by Jasveer Singh, the in-charge of Tajganj police.

 

According to locals, on Monday, a procession was organized in the area to celebrate the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya.

 

Some youths climbed onto the projection of the mosque building and waved saffron flags.

 

Jasveer Singh stated, "A case was filed on Monday afternoon under sections 147 and 148 (related to rioting), 452 (trespass), and 505 (2) (statements conducing public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code against an unidentified crowd of 1,000 to 1,500 people."

 

Singh mentioned, "Eleven individuals, all from the Tajganj area, have been arrested and presented before a magistrate on Tuesday. Appropriate action will be taken in this regard."
