12,608 New Covid Cases In India In 24 Hours

The active cases stand at 1,01,343


New Delhi: On Thursday, India reported a total of 12,608 new covid-19 cases, pushing the cumulative figure to 4,42,98,864.

According to the health ministry, the death count reached 5,27,206 with 72 more fatalities in the span of 24 hours.

The active cases stand at 1,01,343. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,36,70,315.

Delhi reported 1,964 fresh cases of covid-19 and eight deaths, according to data provided by the city's health department. The national capital's Covid-19 test positivity rate was recorded at 9.42 per cent.

With this, Delhi's caseload went up to 19,90,355 and the death toll to 26,408, as per the latest Health bulletin.

The fresh cases came out of 20,844 tests, the bulletin said.

On Wednesday, Eight fatalities and 1,652 cases of Covid were logged with a positivity rate of 9.92 per cent.

On Tuesday, The National capital had reported 917 Covid cases with a positivity rate of 19.20 per cent and three deaths due to the coronavirus infection.

Covid-19 survivors remain at higher risk of psychotic disorders, dementia and similar conditions for at least two years, according to a large study that highlights the mounting burden of chronic illness left in the pandemic's three wake.

While anxiety and depression occur more frequently after Covid than other respiratory infections, the risk typically subsides within two months, researchers at the University of Oxford found.

In contrast, cognitive deficits known colloquially as "brain fog," epilepsy, seizures and other longer-term mental and brain health disorders remained elevated  two years later, according to a study published Wednesday in the journal Lancet Psychiatry.
