12 Lives Lost in Assam Bus-Truck Collision

25 Injured in Tragic Incident in Golaghat District


A collision between a bus and a truck in Golaghat, Assam, on Wednesday morning resulted in the unfortunate death of at least 12 individuals, with 25 others sustaining injuries, as reported by the police.

 

The police report indicates that the accident occurred in the Balijan area near Dergaon in Golaghat district.

 

Rajen Singh, Superintendent of Police for Golaghat district, informed ANI that the accident occurred at approximately 5 am on Wednesday.

 

The accident involved a bus carrying a team from Kamarbandha to Tilinga Mandir in Golaghat. It collided with a truck in the Balijan area, coming from the opposite direction in Jorhat. Ten bodies were recovered and sent to Dergaon CHC, while 27 injured were referred to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital, where two people passed away.

 

After the incident, locals hurried to the site, actively participating in rescue operations. The Superintendent of Police for Golaghat district stated that, up to this point, 12 individuals have lost their lives in the accident.

 

Rajen Singh stated, "Our investigation is ongoing, and we will take action as per the law."
