The couple sold their 12-year-old daughter to a middle-aged man named Chinna Subbaiah, who also married her on Wednesday. The child was later resuscitated and shifted to the childcare center where she is being counseled. Subbaiah was the neighbor of the Kottur resident couple who negotiated and sealed the deal for Rs 10,000. The couple demanded Rs 25,000 from him. Police said Subbaiah's wife had abandoned him due to a family feud. It is being told that Subbaiah had earlier offered the family to marry the second daughter.

Neighbors cautioned, the girl was saved, after buying the girl, she married him and brought him to his relative's house in Dhampur on Wednesday night. Neighbors heard the baby's screaming and crying. The woman and child welfare department official said, "They (neighbors) went to Subbaiya's relative's house to gather information." He then contacted the local sarpanch who told us the whole thing. Police are registering a case against Subbaiah and questioning him.
