14 August to be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day


The Prime Minister today announced that August 14 will be remembered as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, for those people who fought and effortlessly sacrificed themselves for the nation.

During partition millions of Indian men and women were displaced, lost their lives because of mindless hate and violence. Keeping their sacrifices as a memory for the nation, 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the Prime Minister tweeted. In addition, he also said, hope the day keeps us remembering  the need to remove the poison of social divisions, disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment.

Meanwhile, the nation will be celebrating the 75th year of Independence on Sunday. The day which brings national pride and honor, with the Prime Minister, flag ceremony and  Prime Minister addressing the nation from the Red Fort, every single year. Importantly, on Independence Day, the President of the country delivers a televised ‘Address to the Nation’.
