14 Dead In Uttarakhand's Champawat After Vehicle Falls Into Gorge

PM Modi pays Condolences!


On Monday, A tragic incident took place in Uttarakhand's Champawat area where 14 people lost their lives after a vehicle fell into a gorge. 


According to the information, they were returning from a wedding. Police and rescue teams are currently carrying out search and rescue operations.

 

Information stated that the victims were returning from a wedding in Tanakpur on Monday night when their vehicle fell into the gorge on the Sukhidhang-Danda-Minar road around 140-km from Rudrapur.


According to the statement given by police, “Fourteen people have died in road accidents here. We have recovered 11 bodies so far at the accident site.

 

As per our information, there were 14-15 people in the vehicle. The rescue team is looking for other people,” said Devendra Pincha, Superintendent of Police in Champawat district.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to offer his condolences. He stated that the local administration was engaged in relief and rescue work. PM Modi wrote in Hindi, "The accident in Champawat, Uttarakhand is heart-wrenching.

 

I express my condolences to the families of those who have died in this accident. Local administration is engaged in relief and rescue work."


"PM @narendramodi has announced an-ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF (Prime Minister's National Relief Fund) for the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to an accident in Uttarakhand," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted.


As per the information, A team of the State Disaster Response Force rushed to the site for rescue and relief work.
