14-year-old girl stabbed to death

The police said the accused was a distant relative of the victim and was in "one-sided" love with her.


A 14-year-old girl was brutally murdered by 3 people in Pune on Tuesday. Two of them were minors while the main accused Shubham Bhagwat alias Rushikesh, 22, is a relative of the victim. The suspect was in "one-sided love" with the her and had been harassing her for the last few months. Hence, her parents had given him a warning and had asked him to leave the house.

On Tuesday evening, the girl was on her way to kabaddi training at Yash Lawns in the Bibewadi area around 5:45 pm with her friends. She was attacked by the accused and his friends who came on motorbike and stabbed her multiple times in the throat and other parts of the body with sharp weapons. After killing her, they immediately fled the spot.

As soon as the police received the information, they caught the two accused in the early hours today. A thorough investigation is being conducted by the police. Meanwhile, a pistol was procured from the spot which looked like a toy gun, said senior officer Namrata Patil. The Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar condemned the act and has asked the Pune district guardian minister to take strict action against them.
