16 Died Amid Lightning Strikes And Thunderstorms In Bihar

In 24 hours, severe lightning followed by thunderstorms killed 16 people in Bihar


16 in seven districts of Bihar lost their lives amid lightning and thunderstorms taking the death toll in the state to 36 in such turbulent weather conditions in June alone.


These lightning deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours from the following districts of Bihar, which are East Champaran, Bhojpur, Saran, West Champaran, Araria, Banka and Muzaffarpur.

 

Expressing his grief over the situation Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced ex-gratia of 4 lakh rupees for the families of each and every victim.


"Stay at home and stay safe in bad weather." the Chief Minister further advised.

 

Weatherpersons have alerted people to remain cautious with regards to such extreme turbulence in the weather conditions over the next few days as well.

The Meteorological Centre Of Patna  issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in south-central and south-east parts of Bihar.

 

Even expecting heavy rainfall at isolated places of northern Bihar on Thursday.


As majority of the areas in the state have received deficient rainfall in the month of June so far.

Still, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a red alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Bihar on Wednesday

 

Along with a yellow alert for the same on Thursday.

 

Before Tuesday on June 20 as well, 17 people died amid the lightning strikes and thunderstorms across the state.
