17 YEAR OLD WON CSIR INNOVATION AWARD

SUDHAKAR APP helps the poor to get micro loans


Karan Soin, 17-year-old,  from Gurgaon has won the CSIR Innovation Award for developing a mobile app Name - "SUDHAAR", which will help poor to get micro loans.

Karan Soin watched Ted Talk by a Tech Guru in 2017, and that led him to spark towards the CSIR Award, He worked for 3 years with his team of student volunteers from the Shri Ram School to teach digital skills to 100 villagers.

CSIR Innovation Award winner said that " I was keen that the villagers take the next step and wear their newfound Technical Skill to enhance day to day life" and this made him start thinking about his innovation.

In 2019, after discussing many groups he got the conclusion and it was a loan and later on, in 2019, he created a mobile app - SUDHAAR - implying Sudhakar (improvement) through udhar (loan) which would help poor to get easy access towards small loans.

Karan said that," he was encouraged by his principal " who forced him to apply for the CSIR award and after getting selected he got a call from CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), under the ministry of science and technology Government of India and he bagged 2nd position.

"I was absolutely thrilled,  not only at getting National recognition but also at the validation by CSIR says, 17 years old Karan.

On 26th September this year, he was awarded by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Health Minister and expressed his experience which was quite overwhelming and filled with joy, he also got an opportunity to meet the great personality and is planning to work more in the field of development and is working over it.
