2 crore cash and jewelry worth Rs 50 lakh stolen

2 women and a teen tied up as robbery took place in West Delhi


 On November 2, in Paschim Vihar (East), three men tied up a woman, her sister-in-law and 14-year-old son inside the house before stealing Rs 2 crore in cash and jewelry worth around Rs 50 lakh. The police received a call from Shubham Enclave where in the complainant told the police that the three men had committed robbery at her house.

 

Two women domestic workers who were hired by the family two months from south Delhi-based placement agency helped the robbers enter the house. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the five suspects. Although no police verification of the helpers was done by the family. “The complainant told a police team that her husband and brother-in-law had a door fitting business and ran a factory in Mundka Industrial Area. In the evening on November 2, her sister-in-law and son were on the first floor, while she was on the ground floor,” said a senior police officer.

 

Reportedly around 4pm, the domestic helpers who had been provided accommodation on the ground floor allowed entry of three unknown men inside the house. The officer further added that “One of them threatened the complainant with a screwdriver and tied her up, while the two others moved to the first floor. The duo ransacked the almirahs and stole Rs 2 crore in cash and jewelry. They also took away an iPhone. They then locked the women and boy in the house and fled.”

 

“We are checking CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects. We are also questioning the owner of the placement agency to help us identify and trace them. Their call records are also being tracked,” said DCP (outer) Parvinder Singh. He further added that an FIR of robbery has been registered and investigation is still underway.
