2 people dead after fierce fire in Mumbai's COVID-19 hospital

Two people died in a fire at a private COVID-19 hospital in Mumbai early Friday. Twenty-two fire engines are on the spot to control the fire. 76 COVID-19 patients were undergoing treatment in this hospital.


In Mumbai's Bhandup area of Mumbai, two people died tragically after a fire broke out in a private COVID-19 hospital in the early hours of Friday. As soon as fire was reported, 22 fire engines reached the spot. 76 corona infected patients were admitted to this hospital. This hospital is located on the third floor of a Dreams Mall.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prashant Kadam, about twenty-two fire engines have reached the hospital to extinguish the fire. This private hospital is located on the third floor of the mall where 76 COVID-19 patients were admitted. The fire was on the first floor of the mall late at 12.30 pm. It is being reported as a fire at Level-3 or Level-4. According to DCP Kadam, "23 fire engines are present on the spot, rescue operations are on."

Regarding the incident, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, “I have seen a hospital in a mall for the first time. This is a very serious situation. Seven of the hospitalized patients were on ventilator. 70 patients have been admitted to another hospital. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and investigations are still going on.
