20 dead at Delhi's Jaipur Golden Hospital due to oxygen shortage

Shortage in the supply of oxygen is killing lives brutally. It's so disheartening to hear that a patient died due to "No oxygen availability" in the hospital.

Around 20 patients lost their lives at Delhi's Jaipur Golden Hospital, the patients were suffering from Covid-19 infection, they were admitted to the Critical Care unit and died due to low oxygen pressure as the hospital's oxygen stock ran dry.

Dr Depp Baluja, Medical Director of the hospital said that "we lost 20 patients almost of whom were in Critical care unit and on a high flow of oxygen. Our liquid medical oxygen was over by about 10 p.m. and then we switched over to the oxygen cylinders there was a drop in pressure and the patients could not survive". Further he also said that due to the crisis " we are again in a situation of crisis where 200 lives on the line last night we were able to serve most of the patient, "Will not be able to do that today". We have exhausted our backup the hospital has probably another 30 minutes of supply left".

According to the report the hospital was to receive its quota of oxygen at 5:30 p.m. but the supply did not reach till midnight even though the hospital is just 40% of its allocated quota and is again in a situation of an oxygen crisis.
