A 23 years old groom Neeraj got stabbed multiple times to death in Sonipat on Friday night
In a very second case of "dishonour killing" from Haryana within the last three days, 23-year-old Neeraj was stabbed to death allegedly by his brothers-in-law who were against their sister's inter-caste love wedding. The incident happened in a very busy market of Sonipat on Friday night, the suspect was captured in the CCTV footage.
According to the FIR lodged within the station, twenty-three years old victim Neeraj was stabbed over a dozen times. The FIR additionally stated by Neeraj's brother that the suspect had called the victim minutes before the attack and wanted a gathering. He added that they had even called their sister saying "you will cry soon". "They had been threatening my brother form a long period and that we had wanted police protection, however, our request was unnoticed. They said it many times that there'll be a lot of deaths," the victim's Brother Jagdeesh standing outside the mortuary, accused the police of inaction.
According to the Chief of Police of that area, Satish Kumar Vats aforesaid that "The girl and also the man's families had agreed to the wedding and this was given in writing at a village panchayat meeting. However, the woman's brothers didn't approve, and had been threatening the couple." He also added that investigation is underway.
It was only a month-and-a-half back that Neeraj's wedding was solemnized and a village-level meeting had been called multiple times during this regard. Though both the lady and the man was from the Jat community, they were from completely different villages.
