26-Year-Old Hindu Boy, Member Of Bajrang Dal, Murdered For Campaigning Over Hijab Row

Schools Closed In The State!


A 23-year-old Hindu boy has been murdered for campaigning against wearing Hijab in schools and colleges in Karnataka's Shivamogga. 


According to sources, the victim has been identified as Harsha. He has been actively campaigning for secular uniforms in state schools and colleges. In view of the crime, the Shivamogga district administration has clamped prohibitory orders and announced a holiday for schools and colleges.

 

Further stated, that, The victim is also reportedly linked to the right-wing Hindu outfit Bajrang Dal. 


Hijab row has been taken at different levels, which has created tension between the two communities as well as many other leaders and party leaders coming up with their statements. 


According to the statement given by police it said, Harsha was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants on Sunday night near a petrol pump at the Ravi Varma Lane in Bharathi Colony.

 

"We have found clues and are close to arresting the accused. This has nothing to do with the hijab controversy. Harsha and the gang of youths knew each other. This seems to be the result of an old rivalry," the Police said Harsha was attacked by at least four persons around 9 pm last night.

 

He was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries but did not survive.


After the incident, some supporters of the deceased man came out on the streets and unleashed their anger. Television footage showed several men pelting stones but it was not clear what their target was.


According to the statement given by Bajrang Dal state convenor, Raghu Sakleshpur said, "We are not happy with the police action. He was our active member. We will soon decide the next course of action."
