3,000 kg heroin worth Rs 21,000 cr from Afghanistan seized at Mundra port in Gujarat

The consignment was hidden inside the containers of Afghan talc.


The Directorate of Revenue and Intelligence (DRI) on Sunday seized 3,000 kg heroin from Afghanistan worth approximately Rs 21,000 crore in the international market, according to the sources, reported HT. The consignment was shipped in two containers on September 13,14 to Mundra port in Gujarat.

The consignment which originated from Afghanistan and was shipped through Iran, had one container carrying nearly 2,000 kg of heroin and another holding nearly 1,000 kgs. It was hidden inside the containers of Afghan talc.

Two people have been arrested and several Afghan nationals from the Delhi-NCR have been detained by agencies. They are being intensively interrogated for possible Taliban-ISI links, according to an official, reported HT.
