3-year Agnipath Entry Scheme To Join Defence Forces, Centre To Announce Soon

The central government is all set to announce a new scheme called Agnipath under which youngsters would join the forces for a period of three years and serve the country. 

 

As per the information, this scheme is a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major reform toward reducing expenditure and the age profile of the defence forces.

 

Further, the information mentions that the youths would join the forces through the Agnipath entry scheme and be known as 'Agniveers' during their stint.

 

According to the statement given by Senior government sources, said to ANI News Agency that, during the three years of their service, the troops would be known as Agniveers (fire warriors) after which the defense forces would have the option of retaining some of them in service.

 

As per the sources it said, "Discussions are in the final stages on the Agnipath or the Tour of Duty entry scheme. The three forces have been giving presentations on the project-driven from the top, the sources said.

 

Additionally, Sources said the forces will also have the option of recruiting specialists for specific tasks who would perform the desired role. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the recruitment for soldiers in the armed forces had been affected adversely and over 1.25 lakh vacancies exist in the three services.

 

Whereas a few more meetings will take place to finalize about this project.
