41 Pregnant women died during the pandemic in Kerala says: State Health Minister Veena George

In a Kerala Assembly, Ms Veena talked about the seropositivity among the state


Thiruvananthapuram/ Kerela: 41 deaths of pregnant women due to the outbreak of the pandemic in the state of Kerela said by  Health Minister Veena George.

In the Kerela Assembly, the Health Minister highlighted the 149 people who killed themselves over one and half years of the pandemic in the state.

According to the Assembly, Ms Veena Goerge talked about the post scenario of the virus spreading. "As per the figures reported from the districts, 41 pregnant women have succumbed to the disease in the state. Besides, 149 patients have committed suicide," Ms Veena said.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) report, the seropositivity rate in Kerala was 0.33 per cent, 0.88 per cent and 11.6 per cent in May, August and December 2020 respectively and 44.4 per cent in May 2021, the state Health Minister mentioned.

Meanwhile, the increase in the seropositivity among the public could be attributed to the progress in vaccination and the lifestyle of people. She also added that it was the reflection of the effective COVID-19 management initiatives of the state government.

The research work by the state indicated that a larger section of the population in the state attained the resistance power against the pandemic.

Almost 17% of the population is still prone to the virus.

The highest seroprevalence rate, among different levels of people who have got two doses of vaccine, also was observed among the coastal people-93.3 per cent, the minister added quoting the survey.
