4G restored in Jammu and Kashmir

"It's much better to arrive late than before." National Conference leader said

4G internet services are being restored in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Territory's Chief Executive officer tweeted on Friday. High-speed internet connectivity was disrupted in the existing province in August 2019, before the Institute abolished a special legal position by deleting Article 370. On August 5, 2019, the state became a union area. The move to block high-speed internet services was taken backwards and although 2G services were restored in several locations, speed services were not restored. 4G internet services will be restored from Friday, according to J&K (power and knowledge) secretary general Rohit Kansal in a tweet.

In August 2020 - a year after the suspension - J&K executives began reinstating high-speed internet services in several regions at a time. Ganderbal and Udhampur were the first regions to experience fast internet. In April 2020, the institute had told the Supreme Court that the decision to return 4G internet to J&K could be made on a military basis in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources say the executive committee led by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla recently decided to reinstate services in Jammu and Kashmir based on reports from security organizations that the reintroduction of 4G internet services could not pose a major security problem to UT. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah expressed delight at the return of 4G internet. He wrote, "It's much better to arrive late than before."

The online closure made on August 4, 2019, was a form of protection. First, the house wires were restored to J&K. On January 25, 2020, 2G services were restored only to certified users. As of March 4, 2020, 2G internet on certified SIMs was only allowed.
