5 kg of heroin worth Rs. 20 crore seized in Assam

On Sunday, the joint operation police and central reserve police force apprehended a drug smuggler after a tip-off during an operation in Karbi Anglong District of Assam for smuggling approximately 5 kg of heroin that was nearly worth Rs 20 crore.

 

According to the superintendent of police of Karimganj district, Partha Pratim Das, mentioned that they have recovered drugs from a vehicle during the checkpoint near the Assam-Nagaland border.

 

They recover the drugs from the upper chamber of the vehicle.

 

Following the incident, the police had earlier recovered 1.300 kg of heroin in the same district along the Assam Mizoram border and arrested three people on 11 march.

 

A case has been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and psychotropic substance (NDPS) Act.
