Man axes aunt to death over suspicion of black magic in Bhopal


A 50-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her nephew in Katara Hills on Tuesday afternoon. The horrific incident reported in Barrai village of Katara hills police station has left the locals in shudders. The accused suspected that his aunt used to perform black magic on him, due to which, he remained ill and his health had deteriorated.

The deceased woman was identified as Shanti Meena who used to live with her son Om alias Babulal Meena and his family, after the death of her husband while her daughters were married. Shanti’s nephew Raju Meena stayed nearby.

Around 2.30pm on Tuesday afternoon, Shanti was sweeping the floor outside her house in the courtyard. The 30-year-old accused came with an axe in his hand and struck 3 to 4 blows on the neck at same spot and beheaded Shanti. She collapsed on the floor bleeding profusely. Family members rushed to spot, immediately calling ambulance and police.

Family members caught hold of Meena, seized the axe and handed him to cops at the police station. During questioning, Raju confessed that he suspected the old lady of practising black magic on him. Furious at Meena, the accused took the decision of killing her.

Rajesh Singh Bhadouria, ASP (Zone 2) said that the accused’s family had a property dispute with Meena’s family. He said that the dispute could also be a reason for the murder.
