6 Dead, Many Injured As Electric Bus Runs Over Bystanders In Kanpur

Another unfortunate accident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur where six people were killed during an accident and several injured after an electric bus lost its control and hit several bystanders near the Tat Mill crossroad in Kanpur on Sunday. 


According to the information received, this electric bus was going towards Taat Mill from Ghantaghar intersection at high speed at around 11.30 pm on Sunday.


According to the statement given by the police, it said a group of 15 people were at the site where the accident took place. Three of the victims have been identified. Efforts were underway to establish the identity of the rest.


According to Pramod Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Kanpur East, he said that the brakes of the bus stopped working on the Tat Mill incline and the bus went on hitting cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians. He said, that nine people are in critical condition and being treated in a hospital. A probe in the matter has been initiated," said the DCP.


On Monday, President Ram Nath Kovind expressed grief for the deceased during the Kanpur bus accident. He also wished a “speedy recovery” for the injured.

 

He tweeted “Deeply saddened by the news of many casualties in the Kanpur bus accident. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this incident. I wish the injured people a speedy recovery,” He tweeted in Hindi.


Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her Condolences to the deceased family, she tweeted, "Received unfortunate news of a road accident in Kanpur. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

 

I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured in the accident," Vadra said in a tweet posted in Hindi.
