60 Shops Get Burned In Delhi's Chandni Chowk

Incident took place near Lajpat Rai Market in Chandni chowk


On Thursday morning (Today) a massive fire broke out at Delhi's Chandni Chowk area where around 60 shops were burned down. 



According to the information, the incident took place early in the morning at 4:45 am in the Lajpat Rai Market, opposite the red fort in Delhi. Till now, no casualties have been reported. Further, the information mentions that, around twelve fire engines have been rushed to the spot to minimize the impact of the fire.



According to the statement given by, Delhi Fire Services (DFS) it said, the blaze started from a shop at the Lajpat Rai market opposite Red Fort. Atul Garg, DFS chief, said, “We received a call at around 4.45 am about the fire. The team rushed to the spot and 12 fire tenders were deployed. The fire spread to a few other shops which were gutted."



It took about 3 hours later to douse the blaze. A preliminary inquiry into the matter showed that around 80 cardboard boxes had caught fire following a short circuit



According to the ANI tweet, the visuals from the spot showed tall flames swallowing shops as firefighters and local residents try to control the blaze. A complete line of shops was burned down into ashes.
