61 Bodies & 24 body parts recovered from the tragic site of Uttarakhand Flash flood incident.

Rescue Operation is still going on at the Uttarakhand flash flood grounds and only the dead bodies are being recovered.


Rescuers have so far found 61 bodies and 28 body parts in the Tapovan muddy tunnel after the Inanda Devi iceberg in Uttarakhand, which caused severe flooding of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers, and trapped a few people inside.Search and rescue operations have continued since the snowy season caused floods in many areas, putting the lives of many people working inside the tunnel at risk during the disaster. Till date, 61 bodies and 28 body parts have been found in the tunnel.

Police said that of the 61 bodies found, 34 bodies and one body were identified and DNA samples were taken from 56 family members and 49 bodies. According to Chamoli police, search and rescue operations are underway in the Tapovan tunnel in Joshimath, Chamoli district.

The State Department Response Force (SDRF) on Thursday said its 12 teams were working to rescue missing people from Reni village to Srinagar and that the communications team was working simultaneously to improve communication in the area. Search and rescue operations are likely to continue for a long time due to the amount of debris and mud piled up inside the tunnel.

Earlier, the Uttarakhand DGP had said that the search, rescue and rescue operations could be completed in three to four days. He reiterated that the search, rescue and rescue operation would continue until the last person was found trapped in the rubble. "I make it clear that all rescue operations in the Joshimath, Raini and Tapovan areas will continue, be it search, rescue, or relief work.
