67 Palestinians Killed as Ramadan Begins

Concerns Rise Over Escalating Violence in Gaza

In Gaza, Palestinians began fasting on Monday for Ramadan amidst worsening hunger across the strip and increasing tension in Israel over the growing humanitarian crisis.

Last week, Qatar, the United States of America, and Egypt had anticipated brokering a cease-fire ahead of Ramadan. However, the talks stalled.

Over the past 24 hours, hospitals in Gaza received the bodies of 67 individuals killed by Israeli strikes, as reported by the Health Ministry. The Palestinian death toll has now surpassed 31,112 since the beginning of the war, with women and children accounting for two-thirds of the deceased, according to the ministry.

The war began when Hamas-led militants entered southern Israel on October 7, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians. Nearly 250 individuals were taken hostage, with reports indicating that Hamas still holds around 100 people in captivity.

Five months of warfare have driven around 80% of Gaza's 2.3 million inhabitants from their homes, placing hundreds of thousands on the verge of famine.
