7 dead 50 hurt in Bangladesh blast likely caused by gas line

On Sunday, a powerful explosion ripped apart a three-storey building in central Dhaka where seven people were killed and another 50 people were injured.


A statement by police of Bangladesh said the incident took place due to citing a gas pipeline as the likely cause. The explosion was so powerful that it also damaged and broke up the window of a moving bus in which passengers were injured on the board.

Dhaka police chief Shafiqur Rahman says, seven people were killed whereas, the fire service says only three people have lost their lives but 50  people were injured as per police and fire service.Besides, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Syed Nurul Islam says, the fire serviceman will investigate this case further, at the scene but essentially we believed the methane gas gather and concentrated in the pipeline due to which it exploded on the ground floor.It’s a foul play, addressed by police as in Bangladesh similar incident took place, similar explosions in recent years.

A witness from the incident told the local media that due to the blast the building was destroyed were houses a restaurant, an electronics shop, and several other stores rubble down. Two adjacent buildings were damaged.A doctor from the Sheikh Hasina Burn Hospital says, four people were in critical condition, and a large number of people were under treatment.A unit of bomb disposal was rushed to the spot. Where. They are analyzing the nature of the explosion as the ground floor of the building was destroyed, as a unit leader, Rahmatullah Chowdhury informed The Daily Star.
