9 policemen dead in a suicide bombing attack at Balochistan

Many more injured and in critical condition


A suicide bomb blast in Pakistan’s Balochistan province killed nine policemen and injured several others on Sunday. No one has claimed responsibility for the incident till now, however investigations are still underway.

Pakistan-based daily newspaper Dawn reported the incident. The event occurred on the Kambri bridge in Balochistan's Bolan area, near the Sibi and Kachhi borders. According to the report, preliminary investigations point to a suicide attack, but further investigation is underway.

Senior police official Abdul Hai Aamir told AFP that the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle and hit the truck from behind.

Soon after the incident was reported and local administration and security forces arrived, and Kachhi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahmood Notezai injured said that personnels were transferred to a nearby hospital in the Sibi district and treated. Some of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.

According to Notezai the police were returning from a week-long cattle show where they had been providing security, reported AFP. This is when the incident took place where the police personnel were attacked.
