Tragedy Unveiled: Rape and Murder Confirmed in Investigation

The Delhi Police reported that a nine-year-old girl, missing from her home, was allegedly abducted, raped, and murdered by her 52-year-old landlord. Subsequently, the perpetrator disposed of her body in a canal.

The suspect was apprehended on Sunday. Authorities noted his evasiveness during questioning and are investigating whether he strangled the girl or threw her into the canal while she was still alive. Despite ongoing efforts by divers in the vicinity, the police have not yet located her body.

Police received a report about the child's disappearance from her family on December 12. The parents, both laborers, reached out to authorities concerning the incident.

The father stated, "She was playing alone outside... We initially thought she might be at a friend's place. When she didn't return, we filed a complaint. The police informed us she was last seen with our landlord, residing near our home. We've rented from him for over two years, and he even offered assistance in searching for her."

DCP (Outer North) Ravi Kumar Singh reported that the girl was last seen near her home at around 2 pm. The accused offered her a ride, and she was observed getting into his car. Subsequent efforts to locate him revealed that he had been injured in an accident, rendering him unfit for a statement at that time.

On December 15, the accused reportedly collided with a canter truck using his scooter. Police are investigating whether it was an accident or if he intentionally attempted to harm himself.

On Sunday, authorities interviewed him at the hospital, where he purportedly confessed to the crime. According to officials, he admitted to taking the girl in his car, driving through 10-20 different areas in search of an isolated location. Subsequently, he allegedly raped and killed her inside the vehicle. The police are examining the route he took on the day of the incident.

In the meantime, the family staged a protest against the accused. The father, asserting that the landlord had tortured their daughter, demanded capital punishment for the perpetrator.
