95 Children Saved from Illegal Transport

Minors rescued while being transported unlawfully from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar

The Uttar Pradesh Child Commission rescued a group of 95 children who were reportedly being transported illegally from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

Sarvesh Awasthi, Chairperson of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, reported that at about 9 am, UP Child Commission member Suchitra Chaturvedi informed them of children being illegally transported from Bihar to Saharanpur, passing through Gorakhpur and Ayodhya. "We rescued the children, providing them with food and medical assistance," Awasthi said.

Awasthi mentioned that the rescued children were between the ages of 4 and 12.

The CWC Chairperson stated, "Those who brought the children had no consent letters from parents. The children, aged between 4 and 12, mostly expressed unawareness of their destination. We are in the process of contacting parents, and once they arrive, the children will be handed over. In total, there were 95 children."

Previously, the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission in Gorakhpur rescued a group of children from Bihar who were being sent to madrasas across different states.

The state children's panel rescued the children on orders from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, stated on X, "With the assistance of the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission, innocent children destined for madrasas in other states from Bihar were rescued in Gorakhpur, following directives from @NCPCR."

He further emphasized, "The Constitution of India mandates the right to education for every child, obliging their attendance in school. Transporting underprivileged children to other states and enrolling them in madrasas to solicit donations based on religion constitutes a violation of the Constitution."
