HYDERABAD: A 14-year-old girl died by sucide in her classroom, she studied in a government school.

She did not leave behind a suicide note, police suspect that she could have been upset with the school management for calling her parents over an alleged mischievous act by her and seven of her classmates.

Housekeeping workers at the school found the class IX student hanging from the ceiling fan.

Huzurnagar police said the hostel and classrooms are located inside the school premises and added that the girl might have taken the extreme step in the late hours of Monday night.

Police said locals had complained to the school management about a group of girls waving at men or blowing flying kisses at them whenever they were passing by their classrooms and hostel rooms.

Other girls are believed to have told cops that the deceased girl was the instigator of their actions.

"We suspect the girl was afraid to face her parents who have been summoned to the school and resorted to the extreme step," police said. Police registered a suspcious death case under section 174 CrPC and after the postmortem, handed over the body to her family.

The school management summoned parents of all eight girls to appraise them about their alleged mischievous acts. The class IX girl's parents were supposed to visit the school on Tuesday.

Parents of seven girls came to the school and after briefing them about the incident, the school administration sent the girls with their parents to counsel them and bring them back. The deceased girl's father could not attend counselling with other parents.

So, he and his wife were given time on Tuesday," Suryapet district superintendent of police S Rajendra Prasad said.

The girl's family hails from Nalgonda's Nereducherla and her father is a truck driver.
