A Brahmin supporter killed a Dalit lawyer


On Friday, September 25, 2020 a dalit lawyer and activist was murdered in daylight in Rapar area in Kutch district, Gujarat. This incident  happened near Congress Raper MLA's office and was captured in a CCTV camera. 
The victim identified as Devjibhai Maheshwari, he was a senior activist of the All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation (BAMCEF) and of the Indian legal professionals association. 
On Saturday police arrested a 22 year old man from Mumbai's Malad area in connection with the killing of the victim.
The accused identified as Bharat Jayantilal Raval alias Maharaj, he is a resident of Tirupatinagar in Kutch.
During the interrogation, the accused told the police that Mr Maheshwari had uploaded some post on Facebook against particular community i.e. Brahmins.
The accused said he saw some post on Facebook which was uploaded by Mr Maheshwari against a community which provoke him to kill Mr Maheshwari.
"A case of Murder was registered at Rapar Police Station in Kutch under various sections of the Indian penal code (IPC) and the scheduled castes and tribe (prevention of of atrocities) Act" the official said.
Crime branch officer said "we received a tip off that  the main accused in the crime is looking for safe shelter in Malad, then we went there and arrested the accused." 
"A team led by senior inspector Nandkumar Gopale laid a trap in the area and apprehended the accused while he was roaming suspiciously" said Akbar Pathan, Deputy commissioner of police. 
The accused is under Gujarat police's custody for futher investigation.
