A door-to-door survey will be conducting by the Delhi transport department soon

To identify overaged vehicles parked outside houses, streets and colony roads

A door-to-door survey will conduct by the Delhi transport department to identify overage vehicles parked outside houses, streets and colony roads that are yet to be scrapped by vehicle owners, said officials.

Last week in the meeting where the Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Additional Chief Secretary Manish Gupta were also present the decision was made, according to a senior transport official.

The transport department will also involve the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), traffic police and other concerned departments in this drive. The department has so far de-registered about 53 lakh overage petrol and diesel vehicles, including scooters, cars, auto rickshaws and buses.

“Yes, there is a plan to conduct a door-to-door survey, but it will not be conducted in all wards. A concrete plan is yet to be formulated, ” said a transport official.

The department had also started a special drive to crack down on such vehicles plying on roads and which are parked around houses and parks, but the transport minister later asked officials to discontinue the drive and stop impounding and scrapping vehicles.
