The woman’s father complaint arrest against his son-in-law that he has sold off his daughter to a man from Haryana. 

 

On Saturday Odisha's Kalahandi district police arrested a 25-year-old man who was allegedly married his 22-year-old wife to another man from Haryana, in new Delhi.

 

He took his wife to new Delhi on the pretext of finding some work, officials said. 

 

After woman’s father Kulamani Bhoi loged a complaint against his son-in-law that he has sold off his daughter to a man in Haryana, Police arrested Khira Beruk of village Maskaguda. 

 

“The woman’s father lodged a complaint against his son-in-law, Beruk after he received a call from Purnami his daughter told his that she was married off to an unknown person on November 2. She had already married a year ago after courtship. 

 

Her father said, his son-in-law had taken his daughter to Delhi on pretext to find some work on October 30, but sold her off to a person there and returned back to Odisha alone,” said inspector-in-charge Gangadhar Meher from Narla police station. 

 

The incident came to light when Purnami called her father over phone on November 5 and told her ordeal. First Kulamani, her father lodged an information report (FIR) with police on November 6. Then police arrested Beruk and forwarded him to court.

 

Police said the woman is not rescued yet and a team from Kalahandi would soon go to get her back. “Once the woman comes back, we would get to know the whole story behind it,” said the inspector.
