Raped a minor on 12 different occasions from 2013 to 2017
A Self-styled spiritual god-man Prashant Upadhyay who belonged to the Bauga Mukhi Brahmastra Vidyamandir in Warasiya in Vadodara has been arrested for raping a minor for over several years. He has been repeatedly raping the minor between 2013-2017.
Police said this is the second rape case against Upadhyay; he has been taken in judicial custody after being arrested on cheating charges earlier this year.
The complaint was filed at Gotri police station on Saturday, the victim was minor at the time of the alleged crime, and she claimed that the accused had raped her on 13 different occasions in between 2013 to 2017.
The family said that they used to attend Upadhyay’s spiritual centre and also encouraged her to “offer services” during the vacation. When she was 16 years old, Upadhyay took her to his room with his 3 disciple women where they offered her a tablet and said that it’s a mouth freshener that rendered her unconscious. When she was unconscious he raped her and then threatened her to release her nude photos on social media, the victim girl said in her complaint.
In the latest case, Upadhyay had been arrested under IPC for the rape and criminal intimidation, under the Protection of Children form Sexual Offences Act 2012 as victim was mirror when the crime was committed.
Another woman registered a complaint in opposition to Upadhyay and two other disciples of his center for threatening her when she held the self proclaimed guru responsible after her son went missing for more than two years. Upadhyay was arrested on February 24.
