The Delhi Police has apprehended a teenage boy for raping and impregnating a 12-year-old cousin
According to the complaint lodged by the police, the girl was raped last year in November when the teenage boy visited their place to attend a wedding, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi.
The young girl started showing her symptoms recently as she experienced stomach pains. The family took her to the hospital immediately where it was found that she was pregnant. After which they lodged a complaint to the police.
Reports have even suggested that the boy repeatedly raped her for months to follow. The minor girl who is still in VII class said that she has no parents and has been living with her grandparents. The boy is booked under sections 376(2)(n) (commits rape repeatedly on the same woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from sexual offences (POSCO) Act.
Describing the events that occurred the Victim confessed that the boy threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. Although she was raped repeatedly out of fear the girl couldn’t say anything to the family.
The case has been handed over to sub-inspector Sheela Rani. For further investigation, the girl will be taken for a medical check-up once again. However, Sheela Rani revealed that the girl is 8 months pregnant and so the baby cannot be aborted even if the victim wishes to.
The 16-year-old rapist was apprehended on Monday in North Delhi.
