A Woman Allegedly Got Killed By Her Husband And Her Mother-In-Law Over Dowry

On Monday October 12, 2020, the body of a married woman, with her eyes gouged out with a pointed weapon, was found in a field close to her house in Badausha town in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district.
The family of the victim has blamed her husband and her mother-in-law for killing her over dowry.

The victim has identified as Sunita, she was found naked in the field, she also had injury marks on her neck and waist. During the investigation, police have also found her slippers, water pouches, mobile phone and a bottle of country liquor at the spot. The dead body has been sent for post-mortem and further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report. After the victim's family's allegations the victim's mother-in-law law has been arrested by police, while her husband named Bairamdin, is absconding.

According to a Live Hindustan report, the Sunita's husband and her mother-in-law started torturing her after she gave birth to a girl child in 2015. Neighbours who live close to the victim's house said that the dispute between the deceased and her husband had been going for the past three years.

The neighbours also said that the victim's husband was seen in the village, consuming liquor, a day before the crime.  A case of dowry and murder has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the deceased's mother, said SP Mahendra Pratap Chauhan to India Today TV. He also added that victim's mother-in-law has been arrested and police are searching her husband.

During the interrogation, deceased's mother-in-law said to the police that her son went out of the village two days ago to search for a new job.
The police called him on his mobile number, it was switched off. Later, the police went to their house, and the neighbours told during the investigation that the  man had not been working anywhere since the lockdown. Police are searching her husband, and further investigation is underway.
